Detailed Introduction to Rice Variety Fu 92-9
(1) Variety origin: A conventional glutinous rice bred in 1994 by the Atomic Energy Agricultural Application Research Laboratory of Sichuan Agricultural University using a combination of radiation and hybridization.
(2) Characteristics: The full growth period is about 153 days, 4-5 days earlier maturing than the control Tuojiang Nuo No. 5. Plant height is 109 cm, seedling growth is steady, leaf color is dark green, plant type is compact, flag leaf is relatively narrow, and tillering ability is medium. Effective panicles per mu are 176,000, average grains per panicle are 107.3, seed setting rate is 80.7%, and threshing performance is good. Inoculation identification by the Provincial Plant Protection Institute showed leaf blast grade 3, neck blast MR, and relatively good resistance.
(3) Yield performance: In the provincial regional trials in 1995 and 1996, the yields per mu were 398.2 kg and 364.8 kg respectively, increases of 7.7% and 2%; the two-year average yield per mu was 379.6 kg, an average increase of 4.6% over the control. This variety belongs to the japonica glutinous type. It shows tolerance to poor soil, disease resistance, relatively strong adaptability, and good yield potential.
(4) Suitable planting areas: Suitable for planting in the province's flatlands, hills, and mountainous areas below 800 m.
