Characteristics and Traits: This variety is the highest-yielding new mid-season rice combination approved in Sichuan in 2004. Its growth period is 155 days, about 3 days longer than Shanyou 63. The effective panicles are 179,300 per mu, the plant height is 115.3 cm, the panicle length is 24.2 cm, the number of grains per panicle is 157.6, the seed-setting rate is 85.8%, and the 1000-grain weight is 26.6 g. This combination has a good plant and leaf type, hard stems, large panicles and many grains, high yield, strong stress resistance, good comprehensive disease resistance, and wide adaptability. No rice blast or bacterial leaf blight occurred in the field. According to rice quality testing, its eating quality and comprehensive quality reached an upper-middle level.

Yield Performance: In the 2003 provincial regional trial, the average yield per mu was 571.2 kg, an increase of 8.78% over the control Shanyou 63, with an extremely significant difference, ranking first in the trial. All 14 locations showed increased yield (2 locations significant, 10 locations extremely significant). In 2002, it participated in the regional trial of the medium-late high-yield rice group in Sichuan Province, ranking first, with an average yield per mu of 565.76 kg, an increase of 7.96% over the control Shanyou 63. The two-year average yield per mu was 568.93 kg, an increase of 8.22% over the control, ranking first. The two-year average daily yield was 3.67 kg, 0.19 kg higher than the control. In the 2003 production trial, the average yield per mu at five locations was 645.4 kg, an increase of 17.84% over the control Shanyou 63. In 2003, it participated in the early rice group regional trial in Guangxi, with an average yield per mu of 528.3 kg, ranking second among the tested varieties. In 2003, a production trial was conducted in Group 9, Zhouqiao Village, Dongxiang Town, Xuanhan County, Sichuan Province, where the yield per mu reached 629 kg, an increase of 15.2% over the control Shanyou 63; in Group 4, Village 7, Lijia Town, Shunqing District, Nanchong, the trial planting yield per mu reached 811.43 kg, an increase of 29.7% over the control. It is suitable for introduction and trial promotion in single-season mid-season rice and double-season rice areas where Shanyou 63 is suitable for planting.

Cultivation Points: Sow early at the appropriate time, maintain reasonable close planting, use 1.25 kg of seed per mu, plant 15,000-22,000 hills per mu, apply sufficient basal fertilizer, and during the jointing stage pay attention to appropriately supplementing panicle fertilizer according to seedling condition to obtain higher yield.
