Introduction to the Rice Variety Gangyou 94-11

(1) Variety source: Gangyou 94-11 is a medium indica late-maturing hybrid rice variety bred by the Neijiang Hybrid Rice Science and Technology Development Center and the Rice Research Institute of Sichuan Agricultural University using 46A as the female parent and restorer line 94-11 for combination and selection.

(2) Characteristics: The whole growth period is 148.9 days, 0.5 days longer than Shanyou 63; plant height is 117.8 cm, panicle length is 25.0 cm, average grains per panicle is 161.8, seed-setting rate is 84.4%, and 1000-grain weight is 28.7 g. The plant type is compact with good luxuriance; the flag leaf is moderately erect, heading is uniform, color change at maturity is good, and it is resistant to lodging. Grain quality is comparable to the control, and resistance to rice blast is stronger than the control, with leaf blast grade 3-7 and neck blast grade 1-7.

(3) Yield performance: In 1998-1999, it participated in the provincial regional trial for two years, with an average yield of 548.30 kg per mu, 3.3% higher than Shanyou 63; in the 1999 production trial, the average yield at 6 sites was 540.72 kg per mu, 2.91% higher than the control.

(4) Cultivation points: Sow from late March to early April, with a seedling age of 40-50 days; transplant 13,000-15,000 hills per mu, with two grains per hill; the effective panicles per mu are 160,000-204,000; apply heavy basal fertilizer and topdress early, with a balanced combination of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.

(5) Suitable planting areas: Suitable for rice-growing areas in Sichuan as single-season middle rice or as single-season middle rice plus one ratoon rice crop.
