How is the Gangyou 725 rice variety?

(1) Variety source: This variety is a medium indica late-maturing hybrid rice combination developed by Jinyang Agricultural Science Institute by crossing the male sterile line Gang 46A with the restorer line Mianhui 725.

(2) Characteristics: The full growth period of this variety is 149 days, maturing at the same time as the control Shanyou 63. This combination has a moderate plant type, long and large leaves, neat panicle layer, good late-stage color, plant height 114.7 cm, panicle length 24.8 cm, effective panicles per mu 158,600, average grains per panicle 164.19, seed setting rate 85.6%, thousand-grain weight 27.0 g, brown rice rate 80.4%, head rice rate 51.6%, grain quality comparable to the control, rice blast resistance identification: leaf blast grade 5-8, neck blast grade 5-7, disease resistance slightly stronger than Shanyou 63.

(3) Yield performance: The two-year average yield in the provincial regional trial from 1996-1997 was 568.93 kg per mu, an increase of 3.08% over the control; the average yield in the production trial was 594.5 kg per mu, an increase of 8.55% over the control.

(4) Sow at the appropriate time, cultivate strong seedlings with multiple tillers, seedling age 45-50 days, transplant 15,000 hills per mu, basic seedlings per mu 110,000-130,000, plant two seedlings per hill, apply 10-12 kg pure nitrogen per mu, heavy basal application with early topdressing, pay attention to the combined application of fluorine, phosphorus and potassium.
