Characteristics and Traits of the Rice Variety Changmi 011

(1) Variety origin: Changmi 011 is a conventional rice variety bred by the Xichang Agricultural Science Institute of Liangshan Prefecture using excellent rice variety resources such as IR26, Chengdu late japonica, Romeo, and Liza, through composite hybridization between indica and japonica subspecies.

(2) Characteristics and traits: The whole growth period of this variety is 160-170 days (when planted in Xichang), about 7 days earlier maturing than Shanyou 63, plant height 85 cm, panicle length 18-20 cm, about 120 grains per panicle, seed setting rate above 80%, 1000-grain weight 25-27 g. The plant type is moderately compact, with strong tillering ability, erect flag leaves, dark green leaf color, and transparent grains. Most of the rice quality reaches the Ministry-issued first-class or second-class high-quality rice standards. Resistance identification: leaf blast grade 4, neck blast grade 0-1.

(3) Yield performance: Participated in the Liangshan Prefecture regional trial in 1987-1988 for two years, with an average yield of 542.1 kg per mu, an increase of 6.4% over the control variety Fujiang No. 2.

(4) Cultivation points: Sow at the right time and cultivate strong seedlings; plant 100,000-120,000 basic seedlings per mu; apply heavy basal fertilizer, apply topdressing early, increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and timely control pests and diseases in the later stage; harvest at the right time to improve benefits.

(5) Suitable planting areas: Suitable for planting in conventional high-quality indica rice areas below 1600 m altitude in our province.
