I. Garlic Can Be Used as a Feed Additive for Fish (1) Fresh garlic. Take fresh garlic and make it into garlic paste, then mix it directly into the bait for feeding, or take 1%-5% fresh garlic and add it to the fish compound feed, crush it into powder with a grinder, mix evenly, and use directly. After peeling the garlic, grind it with an equal amount of cool boiled water into a slurry and filter it, then mix 3% of the filtrate into the feed to prevent feed mold.

I. Garlic Can Be Used as a @#@233@#@ Feed Additive

(1) Fresh garlic.

(2) Dried garlic (residue) powder. The by-product left after garlic processing, dried and made into powder, is added to fish feed at 0.2%-1% garlic powder, mixed evenly, and put in for feeding.

(3) Allicin. Allicin is an extract from garlic processing. Generally, 3 kg of allicin can be extracted from every 1000 kg of garlic, and it has a strong effect of attracting feeding and promoting growth.

(4) Garlic stalks. In the garlic harvest season, put 50 kg of garlic stalks per mu at a water depth of 1 m as base fertilizer, then apply garlic stalks 3 times each month, 5 kg each time. The fish survival rate reaches more than 80%, and the fish grow well.

(5) Odorless garlic feed additive. Add 0.1 g of ethoxyquin, 100 g of 15% garlic powder to 100 g of animal or vegetable fat, or a mixture of both, heat to about 40°C, and stir for 4 minutes. Generally, the dosage in fish feed is 0.5%-1%.

II. Garlic Can Prevent and Treat Fish Diseases

(1) Gill rot disease and enteritis disease. For every 100 kg of fish, use 0.5 kg of garlic or 12 ml of allicin, add an equal amount of salt, mix into the feed and feed, for 3-6 consecutive days. Or for every 100 kg of fish, use 200 g of garlic, 300 g of Qianliguang, 200 g of Sanguisorba officinalis, and 200 g of Agrimonia pilosa, grind finely, mix into the bait, and feed in two portions, for 5-7 consecutive times.

(2) Explosive hemorrhagic disease. For every 10,000 fish fry, use 0.25 kg of garlic, 4 kg of alligator weed, 0.25 kg of salt, and 5 kg of soybean cake, mix and grind, and feed, 2 times a day, for 3-6 consecutive days.

(3) Furunculosis in grass carp. For every 100 kg of grass carp, use 2.5 kg of fresh garlic and 1 kg of salt, grind into garlic paste, then add 10 kg of rice bran and 10 kg of flour, mix evenly, and feed once a day, for 5-7 consecutive days.

(4) Scale protrusion disease in carp. Use 0.25 kg of garlic bulbs and 0.2 kg of salt, mix and grind into a paste, add 50 kg of clean water, mix evenly, and place the affected fish in the medicinal liquid to soak and wash, for 5-7 consecutive days. Or use 2-3 ml of allicin and 20 kg of clean water, mix evenly, and place the affected fish in the medicinal liquid to soak and wash, 10-15 minutes each time, once a day, for 5-7 consecutive days.

(5) Anchor worm in fish. A 10-30 ppm allicin solution can be used to soak and wash the fish body, 1 hour each time, for 5-7 consecutive times.

(6) Hemorrhagic disease in grass carp. For every 50 kg of fish, use 5 kg of water peanut, 0.3 kg of fresh garlic, 0.5 kg of rhubarb, and 0.25 kg of salt, mix and grind into a paste, then add rice powder and bran or duckweed 5-10 kg to make medicated bait and feed, once a day, for 5-7 consecutive days. When feeding the medicated bait each day, splash 0.5 ppm copper sulfate over the whole pond for a better effect.

(7) White head and white mouth disease in fish. For every mu of water surface at a depth of 1 m, use 90 g each of ginger, licorice, and Atractylodes macrocephala, and 135 g each of honeysuckle and Angelica dahurica. Decoct the medicines in water, add 0.5 kg of garlic paste, and splash over the whole pond, once a day, for 3-5 consecutive times.

(8) Fish saprolegniasis. For every 50 kg of fish, use 0.25 kg of ginger and 0.3 kg of garlic, grind them, filter out the ginger-garlic juice with gauze, add 0.25 kg each of salt water and white liquor, mix evenly, and soak and wash the fish fry, 5-10 minutes each time, for 3-5 consecutive times.

III. Precautions for Using Garlic in Fish Farming

(1) Garlic should be pounded into paste, and when mixed with bait it should be stirred evenly; the dosage should be appropriate, and it is best to prepare and use it on the spot, otherwise the effect will be poor.

(2) When using garlic juice to soak and wash affected fish, the time should be sufficient; when splashing garlic juice into the water, it should be even and the dosage should be sufficient, otherwise it cannot play a role in preventing and treating fish diseases.

(3) Allicin is best preserved under neutral or slightly acidic conditions. Adding 95% ethanol to garlic gives better stability, and it should be placed in a sealed, cool, and dry place.
