Breeding institution: China National Rice Research Institute.

Approval status: approved by the Zhejiang Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1993, and by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1995.

Variety registration number: GS01002-1994.

Variety origin: Xiushui 11/T82-25.

Characteristics and traits: a japonica-type late glutinous variety. At the seedling stage the plant is relatively short, with a compact plant type, sturdy seedlings, and relatively light leaf color; at maturity the color is good, with green stems and yellow ripening, and it threshes easily. Plant height is about 85 cm, with 300,000-350,000 effective panicles per mu, 65-75 total grains per panicle, a seed-setting rate above 90%, and a 1000-grain weight of about 26 g. Brown rice rate 82.3%, milled rice rate 74.8%, head rice rate 73.5%, gel consistency 100 mm, gelatinization temperature 7.0; amylose content 1.2%, excellent grain quality, and good and stable yield. Grown as a double-cropping late rice, the whole growth period is about 130 days. Moderately resistant to rice blast. The usual yield is about 400 kg per mu.

Cultivation points: sow thinly at the right time to grow strong seedlings, generally sowing from June 20-25 at about 30 kg per mu, with a seed rate of 4-5 kg/mu for the main field. Plant appropriately densely, focusing on more panicles, with 30,000-35,000 hills per mu, and 4-5 basic seedlings per hill. Apply sufficient basal fertilizer, apply topdressing early, and do not cut off water too early in the later stage. Pay attention to integrated control of pests and diseases.

Suitable range: grown as double-cropping late rice or single-season mid-to-late rice in the japonica glutinous rice regions of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
