What measures promote rice root development?
1. Sow early at the right time. When the temperature stabilizes at 5°C, begin sowing and raising seedlings; do not raise seedlings for the May crop. When the temperature stabilizes at 13°C, begin transplanting; do not transplant for the June crop. Transplant during the high-yield period to gain accumulated temperature, which is beneficial to root development.
2. Prepare the land carefully and create the conditions. Do a good job of plowing and rotary tilling; generally the plowing depth is 20 cm and the rotary tilling depth is 14 cm. Keep the plowing or rotary tilling depth uniform, so that the mud is not exposed even in water an inch deep, creating the conditions for root development.
3. Strengthen management and promote development. First, seedling-field management: control the temperature well, water reasonably, spray fertilizer on the leaves, and prevent damping-off and bacterial wilt well. Do a good job of weeding the seedbed, cultivate strong seedlings, shorten the transplanting period, and promote good root development.
4. Main-field management. Fertilize reasonably; for base fertilizer, combine farmyard manure, chemical fertilizer and biological fertilizer. The base fertilizer should preferably be mainly organic fertilizer, and the organic fertilizer is best chicken manure, well fermented and finely broken up, applied at about 1000 kg per mu. Topdressing should be applied early; the principle is small meals more often, and it can be divided into tillering fertilizer, panicle fertilizer and grain fertilizer. Scientific irrigation is also a good way to promote root development: transplant in water that is just visible, keep an inch of water for greening, irrigate with shallow water, and throughout the whole growth period use alternate dry and wet conditions, intermittent irrigation, to raise water temperature and promote root development. For rice grown with well water, the water temperature can be raised by setting up a sunning pool, extending the channel, pumping by day and irrigating at night, covering the irrigation channel with film, atomizing, and shallow-water irrigation, so as to increase temperature and promote good root development.
5. Prevent disease and eliminate insects for healthy development. Do a good job of field forecasting and integrated pest and disease control to promote healthy root development.
