How is the Danjing No. 3 rice variety?

Variety source: Bred by the Dandong City Agricultural Science Research Institute, introduced in 1984.

Characteristics: The full growth period is 165 days. Seedlings grow vigorously. Mature plants are 100-110 cm tall. The plant type is compact, with strong tillering ability. The average number of effective panicles per mu is about 260,000. Panicle length is about 18 cm. Each panicle has about 100 grains. The seed setting rate is above 80%. The grains are yellow-white, awnless with occasional sparse short awns. The 1000-grain weight is about 25 g. The brown rice rate is 85%, and the head rice rate is 78.5%. The rice quality is excellent and the taste is good. It is resistant to rice blast and bacterial leaf blight, and moderately resistant to sheath blight and rice false smut. Its lodging resistance is moderate, and it matures with green stalks.

Cultivation points: Sow from April 10-15, and transplant rice seedlings from May 25-30. For dry seedling raising, sow 100-150 kg per mu. Transplanting density is 9 x 4-5 cun, with 3 plants per hill. If using seedling throwing, the sowing rate is 50 g/tray, and 29-30 trays are thrown per mu. Apply farmyard manure together with chemical fertilizer. For fields with medium fertility, apply (N) ammonium sulfate 40 kg, diammonium phosphate 10 kg, potassium sulfate 7.5 kg, and compound micronutrient fertilizer 3 kg. Use shallow water irrigation, with a method combining wet and dry irrigation.

Trial and demonstration situation: It has become the main rice variety in the Dalian area, and is suitable for planting in the southeastern coastal area of Liaoning and the Beijing and Tianjin areas.
