Zhongnong No. 1 garlic is an outstanding achievement of a high-tech research program in China titled "863," with a diameter reaching 11.5 cm. This variety has a plant height of 90-100 cm, a plant spread of 40 cm, a well-developed root system, strong growth vigor, and a thick false stem, generally 2.5-3 cm. Its leaves point upward, its appearance is neat, and its stalks are strong, upright, and straight. The leaves are wide, thick, and long, with a maximum width of 4.5-5 cm and a maximum leaf length of 65 cm. The leaf color is dark green. During the bulb swelling period, it can maintain 9-10 functional leaves, and the leaf tips show no drying. The garlic scape yield is high, and bolting is uniform. The yield of garlic scapes per mu is 1400-1600 jin, with the heaviest 8 scapes weighing one jin. The bulbs are large, with a diameter of 7-9 cm, and the largest over 11.5 cm. The bulb skin is purplish red and thick, the cloves do not separate, and it is tolerant of transport.
