Introduction to the Rice Variety D You 3232

(1) Variety source: A hybrid medium indica late-maturing combination developed by the Wanxian City Agricultural Science Research Institute and the Rice Research Institute of Sichuan Agricultural University using D297A/32 (i.e. IR26/IR54/Hongshuang 2275).

(2) Characteristics: The growth period is 3-4 days longer than that of Shanyou 63, plant height is 110 cm, tillering ability is strong, leaf color is dark green, plant type is compact, color retention at late stage is good, and ratooning ability is strong. Leaf blast 4-7 grade, neck blast 3-7 grade, blast resistance superior to 63. Number of panicles per mu 163,400, average grains per panicle 148.6, seed setting rate 84.8, 1000-grain weight 28.3%, grains are slender, brown rice length-to-width ratio is 2.95, and rice quality is relatively good.

(3) Yield performance: In 1994-1995, it participated in the provincial high-quality rice group and medium indica late-maturing regional trials; the average yields per mu were 574.7, 570.5, and 553 kg respectively, an average increase of 3.97% over Shanyou 63. In 1996, in the provincial production trial, the average yield per mu was 553.34 kg, an increase of 7.59%, and the yield in propagation and seed production was relatively high.

(4) Suitable planting areas: Suitable for planting as middle-season rice in plain and hilly areas of our province.
