Introduction to Dryland Rice Variety HP96-12

Variety source: Bred by the Cultivation Research Institute of the Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Characteristics: This variety has a plant height of 90 cm, a loose-panicle type, a panicle length of 16.1 cm, an average of about 85 grains per panicle, a seed-setting rate of 93%, and a 1000-grain weight of 25.1 g. The growth period is 131 days, it matures with green stalks, is tolerant of low temperatures, has strong drought resistance, is resistant to disease and lodging, is tolerant of close planting, and has excellent grain quality and good palatability. It is suitable for low-lying waterlogged land, rainfed rice fields, or dry fields with irrigation conditions.

Cultivation points: In the Dalian area, sow from late April to early May, with 7-10 kg of seed per mu, apply 1000 kg of farmyard manure per mu and 20 kg of diammonium phosphate. Use 15 kg of ammonium sulfate as base fertilizer, topdress with 15 kg of ammonium sulfate at the tillering stage, and do not irrigate during the growing period. In the middle and late stages, depending on weather conditions, irrigate 1-3 times.
