(1) Variety source: This is a medium-maturity early indica combination developed by the Rice and Sorghum Research Institute of the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences through test-crossing and selection using II-32A and the restorer line Luhui 3028. (2) Characteristics: This combination has a plant height of 99.5 cm, a whole growth period of about 150 days, 5 days longer than the control Shanzhai 8, an effective panicle number per mu of 17-18 ten-thousand, an average of 142 grains per panicle, a seed-setting rate of 82.9%, and a 1000-grain weight of 25-26 g. The brown rice rate is 82%, the milled rice rate is 67.7%, and the head rice rate is 55.5%. Its appearance and eating quality are superior to the control Shanzhai 8.

(3) Yield performance: In the two-year provincial regional trials in 1995 and 1996, the average yields per mu were 496.6 kg and 488.94 kg respectively, increasing by 15.65% and 11.68% respectively over Shanzhai 8 of the same maturity. In the production trial, the average yield per mu was 486.68 kg, an increase of 12.13% over the control.

(4) Suitable planting areas: This combination has good yield potential and relatively strong resistance, and is suitable for cultivation as an early-maturing single-season medium rice in the mountainous areas around the basin in our province.
