(1) Variety origin: This variety is a new late-maturing medium indica hybrid rice developed by the Rice and Sorghum Research Institute of the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences by crossing the self-bred restorer line Luhui 17 with the high-outcrossing-rate male sterile line II-32A. It is currently a key promotion combination in Sichuan Province and was included in the Sichuan Provincial and National Key Scientific and Technological Achievement Promotion Plans in 1999. (2) Characteristics: This combination has a whole growth period of 151.5 days, 2.4 days longer than the control Shanyou 63, a plant height of 114.87 cm, a panicle length of 25.74 cm, 150 grains per panicle, 130 filled grains, and a 1000-grain weight of 27.5 g.

The plants grow uniformly, with strong cold tolerance at the seedling stage, vigorous growth, medium-to-high tillering ability, a high panicle-bearing rate, strong lodging resistance, uniform panicle layers, and good color change at the late stage. It was rated as a high-quality rice combination and won the "Daoxiang Cup" at the Second Daoxiang Cup High-Quality Rice Selection in Sichuan Province. Its resistance to rice blast is significantly stronger than that of the control.

(3) Yield performance: From 1996 to 1998, it participated in the provincial regional trial, with a two-year average yield of 580.68 kg per mu, an increase of 3.85% over the control, and over 7% increase over the control in production tests and demonstrations. In 2000, in a high-yield demonstration in Nanjiang County, on-site inspection showed a yield of 821 kg per mu, setting a high-yield record for the flatland and hilly areas of Sichuan.

(4) Key cultivation techniques: ① Sow early at the proper time to cultivate strong seedlings. ② Plant at a reasonable density, about 15,000 hills per mu, with 2 grains per hill. ③ Fertilize reasonably; this combination is fertilizer-tolerant and lodging-resistant, so an appropriate amount of quick-acting fertilizer should be applied to promote early and abundant tillering. ④ In areas where ratoon rice is retained, topdressing with bud-promoting fertilizer can promote more panicles and high yield in ratoon rice. ⑤ Pay attention to the prevention and control of pests and diseases.

(5) Suitable planting areas: Suitable for planting in medium rice growing areas below 800 m in altitude.
