(1) Variety source: This medium indica late-maturing hybrid combination was developed by the Institute of Biotechnology and Nuclear Technology, Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, using the young panicle of an F2 single plant of (Minghui 63 x Zigui) treated with Co---gamma rays and subjected to anther culture to breed the restorer line Chuanhui 802 as the male parent, with II-32A as the female parent. (2) Characteristics: This combination has a compact plant type, relatively strong tillering ability, vigorous growth, large panicles with many grains, an average of 153.2-157.2 grains per panicle, a seed-setting rate of 79.96-82.40%, and a 1000-grain weight of 28

(2) Characteristics: This combination has a compact plant type, relatively strong tillering ability, vigorous growth, large panicles with many grains, an average of 153.2-157.2 grains per panicle, a seed-setting rate of 79.96-82.40%, a 1000-grain weight of about 28 g, a brown rice rate of 80.0%, a milled rice rate of 70.5%, and a head rice rate of 45.90%. Its processing and eating quality are comparable to the control, and its appearance quality is better than the control. For rice blast resistance, it scores grade 6 for leaf blast and grade 7 for neck blast, with resistance superior to the control. Its ratooning ability is lower than that of Shanyou 63.

(3) Yield performance: In the 1994-1995 Sichuan provincial regional trial, the average yield per mu was 578.8 kg and 556.66 kg, respectively, increasing by 1.30% and 3.93% compared with the control Shanyou 9; the two-year average yield per mu was 567.73 kg, an increase of 2.59% over the control. In the 1995 production trial, the average yield per mu across five trial sites was 604.60 kg, an increase of 8.74% over the control. The whole growth period is about 150 days, 2-3 days longer than the control.

(4) Suitable planting areas: Suitable for planting in non-frequent rice blast areas and non-ratooning rice areas for single-season medium rice in our province.
