Approval status: approved by the Sichuan Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1994 and by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1998.

Variety approval number: Guoshendao 980008.

Variety source: KI7AX402.

Characteristics: early indica variety. Plant height 95 cm, flag leaves erect, main stem 13-14 leaves. Panicle length 10 cm, effective panicles per mu 200,000-1M, grains per panicle 110-120, seed setting rate 80%-85%, 1000-grain weight 29-30 g. Full growth period 116.3 days, 3.8 days later maturing than Weiyou 48-2. Good yielding ability, medium grain quality, moderately resistant to rice blast and bacterial leaf blight. Cold tolerant at seedling stage, strong tillering ability. In the 1995-1996 national indica hybrid early rice regional trial, average yield per mu 451.4 kg, 9.59% higher than Weiyou 48-2. In the 1995 Sichuan production trial, average yield per mu 506.2 kg, 10.38% higher than Huhongzao.

Cultivation points: use 1.5-1.8 kg seed per mu, soak seed 1 day longer than combinations such as Shan A. Planting density 13 cm X 20 cm is suitable, no fewer than 20,000 hills per mu, with 2-3 seedlings per hill. At the peak tillering stage, use Jinggangmycin to control sheath blight 1-2 times.

Suitable range: Sichuan, Zhejiang and other provinces.
