Garlic can be used as a feed additive

Edible Gardening 0 views
Garlic, also called garlic bulb in rural areas, is the most ordinary kind of agricultural by-product in the countryside. In the eyes of farmers, garlic is merely a condiment, but in fact garlic is also a cheap and high-quality feed additive. Adding peeled and chopped raw garlic to broiler chicken feed at a ratio of 3%-5% can not only increase the appetite of broiler chickens, improve chicken meat quality and make the aroma of chicken meat richer, but also significantly increase the daily weight gain rate of broilers. Adding 0.2% garlic powder to chick feed can increase the survival rate of chicks by 5.8%

Adding peeled and chopped raw garlic to broiler chicken feed at a ratio of 3%-5% can not only increase the appetite of broiler chickens, improve chicken meat quality and make the aroma of chicken meat richer, but also significantly increase the daily weight gain rate of broilers. Adding 0.2% garlic powder to chick feed can increase the survival rate of chicks by 5.8%-15.6%; adding 2% garlic premix to the daily ration of laying hens can increase the laying rate by 98%; adding 2% garlic premix to the daily ration of meat-type breeding hens can increase the laying rate by 5.6%; using allicin (extracted and processed from garlic), organic germanium and selenium to make an additive for feeding laying hens can not only increase the laying rate, but also prolong the peak laying period; feeding garlic to breeding roosters can significantly improve the production efficiency of breeding roosters.

Adding a small amount of garlic to pig feed is beneficial to the growth and development of pigs. Adding 3% garlic to the feed of lactating sows can increase the daily feed intake of sows by more than 2 kg; adding 2% garlic to piglets weaned for 15-25 days can increase the daily weight gain of piglets by more than 6.9%.

Adding 3%-5% garlic to dairy cow feed can produce a very good appetite-stimulating effect on dairy cows, and the daily milk yield of each dairy cow can increase by about 2 kg, while the daily consumption of concentrate can decrease by 0.8 kg.

In addition, garlic can also be used to treat diseases such as white scour of piglets, rumen bloat in cattle, failure to eat due to cold stomach, enteritis and diarrhea, and rumen impaction caused by weakness of the spleen and stomach.
