How to apply formula fertilizer to garlic to save fertilizer and increase income

In 2005, 8 demonstration sites were set up in the three towns of Wangmiao, Yucheng and Lige and in Luotun Township, with 100-130kg of formula fertilizer applied per mu, averaging 121.9kg per mu (equivalent to N 17.1kg, P2O5 21.9kg, K2O 12.2kg), while a conventional fertilization control was also arranged, with an average of 129.4kg of compound fertilizer applied per mu (equivalent to N 20.7kg, P2O5 20.7kg, K2O 20.7kg,). At harvest, 5 sites were actually harvested and 3 sites were yield-measured. The average yield per mu in the formula fertilizer demonstration area was 1485.2kg, and that in the conventional fertilization area was 1372.9kg, an increase of 112.3kg in yield and 269.5 yuan in income, with an average fertilizer cost saving of 141.4 yuan (compound fertilizer 2.6 yuan per kg, formula fertilizer 1.6 yuan per kg). The increase in income plus cost saving per mu was 410.9 yuan, and the economic benefit was very obvious. The growth performance of garlic with formula fertilizer was as follows: greening returned 4-6 days earlier, the leaves were darker in color and larger, the stems were thick and strong, and there was no premature senescence; the suitable harvest period was delayed by 3-5 days compared with conventional fertilization.

In 2005, Yutai County promoted 627 tons of garlic formula fertilizer, covering every natural village in the project area, with not a single case performing worse than conventional fertilization. Farmers generally said that "formula fertilizer is good" and that "soil testing and formula fertilization has brought farmers truly scientific farming." Now farmers have come to place orders for more than 1300 tons of garlic formula fertilizer.
