Characteristics: A three-line hybrid early rice combination. Cold-tolerant at the seedling stage, dark green leaf color, plant type moderately compact. Plant height about 91 cm, effective panicles per mu 213,000, panicle length 19.5 cm, total grains per panicle 99, seed setting rate about 72.29%, 1000-grain weight 28.2 g. Grain yellow, long oval. Brown rice rate 79.0%, milled rice rate 68.9%, head rice rate 26.9%, chalkiness rate 99%, chalkiness degree 26.7%, transparency grade 4, amylose content 24.9%. The whole growth period is 116 days in Jiangxi, Hunan, Zhejiang and the north-central part of Fujian. Good yielding ability, average rice quality. Susceptible to rice blast and bacterial leaf blight. In 1997, it participated in the early indica medium-late maturity regional trial in the southern rice region, with an average yield of 496.10 kg per mu, increasing yield by 10.1% and 23.4% respectively compared with the controls Zhe 733 and Bohuazhan 19; in the 1998 continued trial, the average yield was 446.11 kg per mu, equal to the control Weidai 402 and 10.1% higher than the control Zhe 733. In the 1998 production test, the average yield was 491.9 kg per mu, 8.1% higher than the control Weidai 402. It showed high and stable yield and wide adaptability.

Cultivation points: The seeding rate per mu is required to be 1.5-1.75 kg, and the seed soaking time is 1 day longer than that of Shanyou combinations. Use a 13.2 cm x 20 cm spacing to ensure more than 20,000 hills per mu, with 2-3 seedlings per hill. During the peak tillering stage, use Jinggangmycin to control sheath blight 1-2 times. K17 has high outcrossing ability and strong stigma vitality, making it prone to biological mixing and propagation. During seed production, choose locations with good isolation conditions, and the time isolation requirement should reach more than 20 days. At the early heading stage, fertile off-type plants such as the maintainer line should be removed in time.
