Characteristics: This variety is an indica three-line hybrid rice. Grown as a double-cropping late rice in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, its average whole growth period is 121.3 days, 3.4 days later maturing than the control Shanyou 46. Plant height is 108.1 cm, with thick stems, a moderate plant type, vigorous growth, and long flag leaves. The number of effective panicles per mu is 169,000 panicles, panicle length is 24.7 cm, total grains per panicle is 165.9 grains, seed-setting rate is 73.8%, and 1000-grain weight is 25.0 g. Resistance: rice blast grade 9, bacterial blight grade 7, brown planthopper grade 9. Main rice quality indicators: head rice rate 59.9%, length-to-width ratio 3.2, chalkiness rate 19%, chalkiness degree 2.3%, gel consistency 67 mm, amylose content 21.6%.

Yield performance: In 2002, it participated in the regional trial for the late indica medium-late maturing high-quality group in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with an average yield of 442.24 kg per mu, 2.77% higher than the control Shanyou 46 (significant); in 2003, in the continued trial, the average yield was 472.42 kg per mu, 0.39% lower than the control Shanyou 46 (not significant); the two-year regional trial average yield was 478.33 kg per mu, 1.19% higher than the control Shanyou 46. In 2003, the production trial average yield was 451.60 kg per mu, 1.31% higher than the control Shanyou 46.

Key cultivation techniques: 1. Grow strong seedlings: sow 1-2 days earlier than Shanyou 46, with 10-15 kg sown per mu; 2. Transplanting: seedling age should not exceed 30 days, planting density is 20´20 cm, with 50,000-80,000 basic seedlings transplanted per mu; 3. Fertilizer and water management: before transplanting, apply 30 loads of decomposed barnyard manure plus 30 kg of phosphate fertilizer per mu as base fertilizer; within 7 days after planting, apply 8-10 kg of urea as topdressing to promote early growth and rapid development; at the young panicle differentiation stage, apply 2.5 kg of urea plus 5-7 kg of potassium oxide mixed per mu to promote large panicles and strong stems in the later stage. For water management, alternate wetting and drying irrigation should be used in the later stage, and do not drain too early; 4. Pest and disease control: pay special attention to controlling rice blast, and also pay attention to controlling bacterial blight.

Approval opinion: Upon review, this variety meets the national rice variety approval standards and has passed approval. This variety matures relatively late, has medium yield, is highly susceptible to rice blast, susceptible to bacterial blight, and has excellent rice quality. It is suitable for planting as double-cropping late rice in areas with light occurrence of rice blast and bacterial blight in central and northern Guangxi, central and northern Fujian, central and southern Jiangxi, central and southern Hunan, and southern Zhejiang.
