Breeding unit: Shanghai Baoshan District Agricultural Fine Seed Breeding Farm.

Approval status: Approved by the Shanghai Municipal Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1998, and by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1999.

Variety approval number: Guoshen Dao 99002.

Variety source: 82-.2/Xiushui Fang "Zijinnuo" (82-2 is a descendant of "Efeng" X "Xinxiu").

Characteristics: Medium-maturing late japonica, late type. Plant height 110.4 cm for single-season, 89.6 cm for double-season. Stems thick and sturdy, leaves erect, leaf color on the darker side, plant type moderately compact, field growth clean and vigorous, good luxuriance, weak tillering ability. Generally about 10,000 effective panicles per mu; panicles on the large side, 100-115 total grains per panicle, 95-105 filled grains per panicle, 1000-grain weight 26-27 g; brown rice rate 83.7%, milled rice rate 75.5%, head rice rate 66.2%, chalkiness 11%, transparency grade 2, amylose content 15.8%, good rice quality. Full growth period 162.8 days for single-season, 133.1 days for double-season, 1-2 days earlier than Xiushui 11. Relatively resistant to sheath blight, not resistant to rice blast. In 1996, participated in the national southern rice region single-season late japonica group regional trial, average yield 582.3 kg per mu, 10.9% higher than the control Xiushui 11; in 1997, participated in the national southern rice region single-season late japonica group regional trial, average yield 514.13 kg per mu, 10.4% higher than the control Xiushui 11. In 1998, production trial average yield 486.18 kg per mu, 6.4% higher than the control Xiushui 11;; showing good high and stable yield, relatively wide adaptability.

Cultivation points: In the Shanghai area, direct seeding at the end of May or early June, or sowing for seedling-throwing rice in late May or early June is suitable. For transplanted rice, control basic seedlings at 80,000-100,000, peak seedlings at 300,000-350,000, ensuring 220,000-250,000 effective panicles per mu. Total fertilizer level slightly higher than varieties such as Xiushui 17. Pay attention to the prevention and control of rice blast.

Suitable range: Planting in rice blast lightly occurring areas of the japonica rice region in the Yangtze River basin.
