The Ministry of Agriculture held an acceptance and summary meeting for the "Pilot Action for Scientific and Technological Improvement of Comprehensive Rice Production Capacity" in the Anhui project area. Yang Xiongnian, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Liao Xiyuan, Deputy Director of the China National Rice Research Institute, and relevant experts participated in the acceptance activity. The acceptance results showed that the contiguous 1002 mu of the excellent rice variety "Fengliangyou No. 1" in the core demonstration area grew evenly and uniformly, with a moderate growth period, clean and vigorous growth, good maturity appearance, and no damage from diseases, insects, or weeds. The average yield per mu was 656.8 kg, an increase of 16.3% over similar varieties in non-project areas. This "

This "Pilot Action for Scientific and Technological Improvement of Comprehensive Rice Production Capacity" was a planned task implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture at a meeting held in Hangzhou in March this year. The pilot project stipulated the selection of new high-quality, high-yield hybrid rice varieties, with a radiation promotion area of 250,000 mu, and a yield target of a 5% increase over the control in the same area. It also required the selection of a 1000-mu core demonstration area, where, through technological integration, the yield target was about a 10% increase over the control in the same area.

The Anhui project area was led by the China National Rice Research Institute, with the Anhui Provincial Agricultural Commission, the Rice Research Institute of the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Tianchang City, Anhui Province as undertaking units. The excellent rice variety "Fengliangyou No. 1" selected for the project's core demonstration area was bred through cooperation between Fengle Seed Industry and the Liaoning Japonica Hybrid Center. The project implemented a chief expert responsibility system and trained 235 technical backbone personnel. In Tianchang City, where the project was implemented, 3 service networks and 7 training groups were established, and five rounds of scientific and technological training were conducted for 28 townships across the city, training a total of 11,000 farmers, amounting to 55,000 person-times, and distributing more than 11,000 copies of materials.

On the basis of selecting high-quality, high-yield improved varieties, a series of supporting technologies were mainly promoted, including rice "dry seedling raising with sparse planting" and "sparse planting and long growth" high-yield and pollution-free cultivation, among others. In the demonstration area, both the coverage rate of improved varieties and the household adoption rate of technology reached 100%, contributing to large-scale high-quality and high-yield rice production.

According to yield measurements conducted by the local agricultural technology department in 28 townships across the city's 250,000-mu radiation demonstration area, the converted average yield per mu was 613.8 kg, an average increase of 6.1% over the same variety in non-project areas.

The expert group unanimously held that the project was effectively organized and standardized in management, fully completed the contracted tasks on schedule, and agreed that it passed acceptance. It was suggested that the promotion and application of the project's results should be further accelerated.
