Approval status: approved by the Sichuan Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1997, by the Zhejiang Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1999, and by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2000.

Variety approval number: Guoshen Dao 20000003.

Variety source: II-32A x Shuhui 62.

Characteristics: it is a medium indica late-maturing three-line hybrid rice. Plant height is about 114 cm, growth is uniform, plant type is compact, plants are luxuriant, leaf color is dark green, leaves are erect, tillering ability is strong, self-regulation ability is strong, it can be planted both at suitable dense spacing and at suitably sparse spacing, and it has good yield stability. The earing rate is relatively high, the panicle is large with many grains, panicle length is 24 cm, total grains per panicle is 156.5, seed-setting rate is 75.3%, and 1000-grain weight is 28.4 g. Head rice rate is 59.7%, chalkiness degree is 18.9%, amylose content is 20.3%, and gel consistency is 45.5 mm. The main rice quality is slightly better than that of Shanyou 63. The average whole growth period is 145 days, 2.2 days later maturing than Shanyou 63. It shows high and stable yield, is moderately susceptible to rice blast, and highly susceptible to bacterial leaf blight. In 1997 it was entered in the national southern rice region medium indica late-maturing group regional trial, with an average yield of 585.26 kg per mu, 2.6% higher than the control Shanyou 63; in the 1998 continued trial the average yield was 545.64 kg per mu, 5.6% higher than the control Shanyou 63; in the 1999 production trial the average yield was 609.2 kg per mu, 8.79% higher than the control Shanyou 63.

Cultivation points: sow at the proper time, and use sparse planting to raise strong seedlings. Generally the sowing rate is 10 kg per mu, and the best seedling age is about 45 days. Generally plant 12,000 hills per mu, and insert enough basic seedlings. In the field, base fertilizer should be dominant and topdressing supplementary; organic fertilizer should be dominant and chemical fertilizer supplementary; nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium should be applied in combination, and nitrogen fertilizer should be appropriately increased. Do a good job of adjusting the flowering period. When producing seed of II You 162, the female parent II-32A should be sown 4-5 days earlier than the male parent Shuhui 162. Strengthen field management, especially paying attention to promoting the male parent Shuhui 162, and when applying "920", about 2 g should be applied to the male parent so as to appropriately increase the male parent's plant height.

Suitable range: for planting as single-season medium rice in the lightly affected bacterial leaf blight areas of the southwest and the Yangtze River basin.
