Introduction to the Characteristics and Cultivation Points of the Rice Variety II You 448
(1) Variety source: This variety is a new medium-maturing medium indica hybrid rice combination developed by the Crop Research Institute of the Sichuan Academy of Agricultural Sciences by crossing II-32A with Chenghui 448.
(2) Characteristics: The full growth period is 145 days, 7 days longer than the control Shanyou 195. The plant height is 100.5 cm, the panicle length is 25 cm, each panicle has 142 grains, 122 filled grains, and the 1000-grain weight is 26.88 g. The glume tip is purple. The plant stems are thick and strong, with good lodging resistance. The seedling stage has vigorous growth, strong tillering ability, and many effective panicles. The leaf color is light green, the plant and leaf type is moderate, and the flag leaves are upright. It is relatively cold-tolerant at the seedling stage and has good heat tolerance in the later stage. The panicle layer is neat, and the color turns well in the later stage. The comprehensive rice quality is superior to the control Shanyou 195. It has strong resistance to rice blast.
(3) Yield performance: In the provincial regional trial from 1996-1997, the two-year average yield was 567.72 kg per mu, an increase of 14.57% over the control Shanyou 195. In the production trial, the average yield at 5 locations was 586.0 kg per mu, an increase of 8.73%.
(4) Key cultivation techniques: ① Sowing period: late March to early April in northwest Sichuan, and mid-March in southeast Sichuan. ② Use two-stage seedling raising or plastic-film heat-preservation seedling raising to cultivate strong multi-tillering seedlings, with a seedling age of 40-45 days. ③ Transplanting density: transplant 15,000-18,000 hills per mu, with about 100,000 basic seedlings per mu and about 180,000 effective panicles per mu. ④ Fertilization: For fields with medium fertility, generally apply 10-12 kg of pure nitrogen, 25-30 kg of phosphate fertilizer, and 15-20 kg of potassium fertilizer per mu.
(5) Suitable planting areas: It can be planted in areas where medium-maturing medium indica combinations such as Shanyou 195, Fuyou 838, and Aiyou S are grown.
