Breeding institution: Sichuan Institute of Nuclear Technology Application.
Approval status: approved by the Sichuan Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1995, by the Henan Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1998, and by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1999.
Variety approval number: Guoshen Dao 990016.
Variety source: II-32A x Fuhui 838.
Characteristics: a late-maturing three-line hybrid combination of medium indica rice. Plant height 115 cm, thick and sturdy stems, 17-18 leaves on the main stem, erect flag leaf, leaf sheath and leaf interspace purple. Tillering ability above average, slightly inferior to Shanyou 630; panicle length 25 cm, main panicle 150-180 grains, seed-setting rate 85%-95%, 1000-grain weight 29 g. Brown rice rate 79.8%, milled rice rate 73.4%, head rice rate 42.6%, gel consistency 55 mm, amylose content 22.8%, good rice quality. The whole growth period is 145-150 days, 1-3 days longer than Shanyou 63. Lodging resistant, susceptible to rice blast, and has good adaptability to environmental temperature at the heading and flowering stage. In 1994, it participated in the national southern rice regional trial, with an average yield of 604.33 kg per mu, 3.76% higher than the control Shanyou 63; in the 1995 continuation trial, the average yield was 562.67 kg per mu, 1.5% higher than the control Shanyou 63.
Cultivation points: sow at the locally appropriate sowing time, seedling age 40-50 days, transplanting density 28 cm x 5 cm or use (33+13) cm x 13 cm wide-narrow row cultivation, appropriately increase the number of basic seedlings, apply heavy basal fertilizer and topdress early; other cultivation measures are the same as those for Shanyou 63. For seed production, in principle the male and female parents can be sown at the same time.
Suitable range: areas with the same ecological type in Sichuan, Chongqing, Henan and other areas with light occurrence of rice blast, grown as medium rice.
