Detailed introduction to the rice variety II You 898
Origin: A hybrid mid-season rice variety bred by the Hubei Jianghan Plain Agricultural High-Tech Research and Development Center by crossing the male sterile line "II-32A" with the restorer line "Hui 898". It was approved by the Hubei Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 2005, with the variety approval number E Shen Dao 2005002.
Quality and yield: From 2003 to 2004, it participated in the Hubei Provincial mid-season rice variety regional trial. The grain quality was tested by the Food Quality Supervision and Inspection Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, with brown rice rate 81.0%, head rice rate 62.2%, chalky grain rate 22%, chalkiness degree 3.4%, amylose content 20.9%, gel consistency 54 mm, and length-to-width ratio 2.6. The two-year regional trial average yield was 578.30 kg per mu, an increase of 9.11% over the control II You 725. Among them: in 2003 the yield was 575.50 kg per mu, an increase of 14.06% over II You 725; in 2004 the yield was 581.10 kg per mu, an increase of 4.62% over II You 725, with extremely significant yield increases in both years.
Characteristics: Moderate plant type, leaves slightly drooping, flag leaf relatively wide and long, leaf sheath and glume tip purple. Strong tillering ability and field growth vigor, moderate lodging resistance. Uniform panicle layer, basal spikelets show degeneration, a few grains have short awns, and the secondary grain-filling phenomenon is relatively obvious. In the regional trial, the effective panicles per mu were 177,000, plant height 119.8 cm, panicle length 24.6 cm, total grains per panicle 157.6, filled grains 131.3, seed setting rate 83.3%, and 1000-grain weight 27.00 g. The whole growth period was 139.9 days, 0.3 days shorter than II You 725. Disease resistance identification showed high susceptibility to rice neck blast and moderate resistance to bacterial blight. Rice false smut was relatively severe in the field.
Cultivation points: 1. Sow at the right time and transplant in time. Sow in mid-April in northern Hubei, and in late April in the Jianghan Plain and eastern Hubei. Seedling age should be within 30 days, and transplant in time. 2. Reasonable close planting. Spacing 13.3 cm x 26.7 cm, plant 2 grain seedlings per hill, and plant 100,000 to 120,000 basic seedlings per mu. 3. Scientific fertilizer and water management, with attention to increasing organic fertilizer application. Apply sufficient basal fertilizer, apply topdressing early, supplement with panicle fertilizer, spray grain fertilizer, and increase zinc fertilizer and boron fertilizer. Irrigate frequently with shallow water, drain and dry the field in time, and avoid cutting off water too early at the later stage. 4. Pay attention to the prevention and control of rice blast, rice false smut, sheath blight, and stem borers and other pests and diseases.
