Detailed introduction to the rice variety II Youming 86

Variety source: A medium indica hybrid combination developed by the Sanming Agricultural Science Institute of Fujian using II-32A x Minghui 86.

Approval status: Approved in 2001 by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee.

Characteristics: This combination has a plant height of 100-115 cm, a moderate plant type, medium tillering ability, vigorous growth, upright leaves, large panicles with many grains, about 160 total grains per panicle, a seed-setting rate above 80%, a 1000-grain weight of 28 grams, an average yield of about 550 kg per mu, and medium grain quality. The whole growth period is 146 days, 3-4 days longer than Shanyou 63, moderately susceptible to rice blast, susceptible to bacterial leaf blight, and suitable for planting in lightly affected areas of single-season rice bacterial leaf blight in our province.

The growth period of this variety is 3-4 days longer than that of Shanyou 63, and its panicle type is relatively large. In the later stage, be sure not to cut off water too early, so as to avoid reducing the seed-setting rate. Pay attention to the prevention and control of bacterial leaf blight.
