Good results with 30% Aimiao EC on rice
Sheath blight, rice kernel smut, rice false smut and brown sheath rot, among other diseases commonly occurring on rice, have the characteristic of explosive epidemics; once a major epidemic breaks out, it causes severe losses in rice yield, affecting both yield and rice quality. There are many pesticides used in production to control the above rice diseases, but according to our trials, applying 30% Aimiao EC on rice can both ensure disease control efficacy and increase rice yield and improve rice quality.
Good disease control efficacy. 30% Aimiao EC is compounded from two pesticides, propiconazole and difenoconazole. It has good control efficacy against diseases caused by fungi such as ascomycetes, basidiomycetes and deuteromycetes, and is a highly effective broad-spectrum systemic fungicide. 30% Aimiao EC strongly inhibits spore formation of plant pathogens and can inhibit the maturation and germination of conidia, thereby controlling further development of the disease. 30% Aimiao EC has strong penetrability and adhesion, is resistant to rain erosion, and is suitable for use in the rainy season (the period when diseases occur in the middle and late stages of rice is often the rainy season). Generally, rain 2 hours after application will not affect the control efficacy, and the residual activity period is relatively long. The propiconazole in 30% Aimiao EC can be rapidly absorbed by the stems and leaves of the plant within 2 hours after application and conducted upward through the plant's vascular tissue, effectively controlling the expansion of lesions, while difenoconazole is conducted more slowly and has a longer residual activity period, with an effective protection period of 20 days to 35 days. In 2005, trials in various parts of Hunan Province showed that using 30% Aimiao EC to control rice sheath blight achieved a control efficacy of 95%, superior to that of validamycin; its control efficacy against rice kernel smut was significantly higher than that of triadimefon, and its control efficacy against rice false smut was also significantly higher than that of validamycin and triadimefon.
2. Obvious yield-increasing effect. After applying 30% Aimiao EC on rice, it can significantly regulate rice growth and increase rice grain yield. Its main mechanism of action is: it can inhibit the biosynthesis of gibberellin in rice and reduce the content of indoleacetic acid. The grain filling of inferior grains in rice is mainly regulated by indoleacetic acid. After spraying rice with 30% Aimiao EC, it can inhibit the effect of superior grains on the filling of inferior grains, making the final grain weight of inferior grains closer to that of superior grains, with no obvious effect on superior grains. According to trials, compared with conventional pesticides, the rice grain yield increase from applying 30% Aimiao EC to rice was 7.5% to 20.2%; in rice seed production, the seed production yield could be increased by 12.8%.
3. Method of use. To control rice sheath blight, apply the pesticide at the early stage of disease onset, using 15 milliliters of 30% Aimiao EC per 667 sq m of paddy field each time, diluted in no less than 30 kg of water, and spray evenly. Apply the second treatment 10 days later. To control rice kernel smut and rice false smut, apply the pesticide once each 5 days to 7 days before the rice booting and heading stage and at the full heading stage, using 15 milliliters of 30% Aimiao EC per 667 sq m of paddy field each time, diluted in no less than 30 kg of water, and spray evenly. In rice seed production, using 30% Aimiao EC will not affect the seed-setting rate by damaging the maternal stigma when applied at the flowering stage, and it is suitable for large-scale application in rice seed production areas to control rice kernel smut.
