Provincial approval status: approved in 2003 by the Sichuan Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee

Characteristics: This variety is an indica three-line hybrid rice. When grown as a single-season mid-season rice in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the average whole growth period is 152.0 days, 0.6 days earlier than the control Shanyou 63. Plant height is 114.3 cm, plant and leaf shape are moderate, cold tolerance is relatively weak, and lodging resistance is average. The number of effective panicles per mu is 165,000, panicle length is 25.2 cm, total grains per panicle is 169.2, seed-setting rate is 85.0%, and 1000-grain weight is 26.0 g. Resistance: rice blast grade 7, bacterial blight grade 7, brown planthopper grade 7. Main rice quality indicators: head rice rate 62.3%, length-to-width ratio 3.1, chalkiness rate 23%, chalkiness degree 3.4%, gel consistency 51 mm, amylose content 24.4%.

Yield performance: In 2002, it participated in the regional trial of the late-maturing high-quality mid-season indica group in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, with an average yield of 561.49 kg per mu, 3.73% higher than the control Shanyou 63 (extremely significant); in 2003, in the continued trial, the average yield was 603.56 kg per mu, 4.74% higher than the control Shanyou 63 (extremely significant); the two-year regional trial average yield was 583.84 kg per mu, 4.28% higher than the control Shanyou 63. In 2003, the average yield in the production trial was 559.87 kg per mu, 2.86% higher than the control Shanyou 63.

Key cultivation techniques: 1. Cultivate strong seedlings: sow at the same time as Shanyou 63 according to local planting practices, with a seedling age of about 45 days; 2. Transplanting: plant 100,000-120,000 basic seedlings per mu; 3. Fertilizer and water management: apply a heavy basal fertilizer and topdress early, increase the application of organic fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and control nitrogen fertilizer in the middle and late stages. Irrigate with shallow water and drain the field at the appropriate time; 4. Pest and disease control: pay attention to controlling rice blast and bacterial blight.

Approval opinion: After review, this variety meets the national rice variety approval standards and has passed approval. This variety has a moderate maturity period, relatively high yield, is susceptible to rice blast and bacterial blight, and has excellent rice quality. It is suitable for planting as single-season mid-season rice in the low- and medium-altitude rice areas of Yunnan, Guizhou, and Chongqing (excluding the Wuling Mountain area), the flatland rice areas of Sichuan, and the lightly affected rice blast and bacterial blight areas of southern Shaanxi.
