Characteristics and Cultivation Key Points of the Yihongyou No. 1 Hybrid Gastrodia
"Yihongyou No. 1" hybrid Gastrodia is a new hybrid Gastrodia variety bred by using wild robust red Gastrodia collected in high-altitude mountain areas as the male parent, and excellent red Gastrodia cultivated artificially in indoor boxes on the Jianghan Plain as the female parent, through sexual cross-pollination and seed setting between different plants and different flowers from different locations. It is suitable for both indoor cultivation in low-altitude plain areas and outdoor imitative-wild cultivation in high-altitude mountain and hilly areas at 500-1800 m. It fills the gap in China of lacking excellent sexually hybrid varieties for planting Gastrodia in high mountains, hills, and especially plain areas.
1. Characteristics: "Yihongyou No. 1" hybrid Gastrodia has been promoted and planted for nearly 5 years in Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, **, Gansu, Shaanxi, Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Tianjin, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Hainan, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Anhui, Hunan and other provinces and cities, and confirmed by outdoor imitative-wild cultivation at the Yichang Three Gorges ten-thousand-mu Gastrodia base and indoor cultivation of 1 million boxes (bags) on the Jianghan Plain in Hubei. It has good commercial quality, with round and plump individual tubers, generally 200-500 g fresh weight, and excellent quality. In particular, its reproductive capacity is extremely strong, with a large propagation coefficient, and its yield is more than 30% higher than conventional vegetative subculture varieties. The suitable growth temperature is 14-28 degrees C, the optimum temperature is 20-25 degrees C, and the total accumulated temperature during the growth period is about 3800 degrees C.
2. Cultivation key points: For outdoor bed-type soil-covered imitative-wild cultivation in mountainous areas, companion-planted with "Yifeng No. 4" branch-log Armillaria strain, sow 500 g of Gastrodia seed per sq m, which can produce 10-15 kg of fresh Gastrodia; for indoor box-type soilless sand-covered cultivation on the plains, sow 150-200 g of Gastrodia seed per box (50 x 50 x 35 cm), which can produce 4-5 kg of fresh Gastrodia; for indoor bag cultivation, sow 100-120 g of Gastrodia seed per bag (40 x 35 cm), which can produce 1.5-2 kg of fresh Gastrodia.
3. Harvesting: For outdoor winter planting (November to January of the following year), dig 10-12 months after sowing; for spring planting (March to May), dig 7-8 months after sowing; for indoor box (bag) cultivation, with artificial temperature regulation at about 20 degrees C, it can be harvested in 6 months, and 2 cultivation cycles can be carried out per year.
