Key Management Techniques for Garlic at the Green-Up Stage in Early Spring
In late February, as the weather gradually warms, the seedlings turn green and begin to grow adventitious roots from the lower part, and the garlic scapes and bulbs begin to differentiate. At this time, ensuring robust seedling growth and accumulating more nutrients for the differentiation of garlic scapes and bulbs is the key to achieving high-quality, high-yield garlic. Years of continuous cropping in major garlic-producing areas have led to a relative deficiency of trace elements (iron, copper, manganese, zinc, magnesium, molybdenum, boron, cobalt, etc.) and calcium in the soil. A lack of trace elements directly results in weak, poorly developed garlic plants. In severe cases, fungi and bacteria can invade, causing various diseases that lead to reduced yields or even total crop failure. Management measures for this stage:
(1) Sweep away dust from the plastic mulch.
(2) Promptly repair damaged plastic mulch.
(3) Remove coverings from the mulch.
(4) In early March, spray foliar fertilizer + New High-Fat Film once to supplement trace elements and prevent pathogen infection.
(5) When the daily average temperature stabilizes at around 12°C, water to strengthen the seedlings, applying with the water 6-8 kg of pure nitrogen and 2 kg of potassium dihydrogen phosphate. If fungal leaf blight is found at this time, spray evenly in the early stage of the disease with 43% Hailike two packets + 15 g Kangpei No. 2 + New High-Fat Film 700x solution, mixed with 30 kg of water; spraying twice in succession gives better results.
