High-yield and high-efficiency cultivation technique for interplanting onions with grain and soybeans
Interplanting onions with grain and soybeans is an effective way to achieve two harvests from one plot and raise the cropping index. It is designed, on the premise of ensuring grain production, to develop off-season vegetable production, increase returns, and achieve high yield and high efficiency. Its main cultivation points are:
1. Select improved varieties
For corn, Haidan No. 2 can be used; for soybeans, Liaodou 10 can be used; for onions, Xiongyuan No. 1.
2. Grow strong seedlings
Onions are raised in autumn seedlings. Generally from August 15 to August 22. Prepare beds and apply 5000 kg of decomposed farmyard manure per mu, 15 kg of diammonium phosphate, and after Chenopodium, prevent drying; in early September, combine with watering and topdress with ammonium sulfate, second seedling.
3. Form ridges and apply base fertilizer
Prepare the land and form ridges early in early spring. Ridge spacing is generally 56-60 cm. Then plow open the prepared ridges, apply 2000 kg of farmyard manure, 10 kg of diammonium phosphate, 5 kg of urea, and 5 kg of potash fertilizer, close the ridges firmly, and compact them to preserve soil moisture.
4. Transplant seedlings at the right time
From early to late March, transplant onion seedlings onto the ridge platform, with a plant spacing of 10 cm and 11,000 seedlings kept per mu, and press down promptly after transplanting.
5. Sowing grain and soybeans
Sow corn and soybeans from May 25 to June 5. The number of seedlings kept per mu follows spring sowing practice, and sowing is done in the ridge furrows.
6. Strengthen management
During the onion growth period, pay attention to preventing and controlling pests and diseases, mainly using aluminum triethyl phosphite to control downy mildew and kangkangmeining to control gray mold. After the onions are harvested in early July, grain and soybeans should be topdressed and earthed up in time.
