Introduction to the characteristics and traits of the Scallion King Hybrid No. 1 variety
Variety source:
"Scallion King Hybrid No. 1" is a new scallion variety developed by the Quanyuan Agricultural Science Institute of Changling County, Jilin Province, using high-tech hybrid breeding technology. Its disease resistance, high quality and high yield are at a leading level domestically and internationally.
Characteristics and traits:
This variety has been promoted for 3 years and, through planting in various provinces and cities, has shown the characteristics of disease resistance, cold resistance, lodging resistance, thick and strong root system, rapid growth, high yield, high quality and tolerance to storage and transportation. Plant height 150-165 cm, leaf color dark green, no yellow or dry leaves at autumn harvest, scallion white 65-75 cm, cylindrical, fine texture and solid stalk. When seedlings are raised and transplanted in the same year, the average plant weight is 1 kg, and the largest plant weight is 2.40 kg. Highly resistant to various diseases and insect pests of scallion. Yield per mu 8000-10000 kg, more than 50% higher than Wutong 29 series.
Cultivation points:
The key points of high-yield cultivation techniques for "Scallion King Hybrid No. 1" scallion are: raise strong seedlings, dig deep furrows, hill up soil high, and increase water and fertilizer management during the growth period.
1. Sowing and seedling raising. Seedlings can be raised in both spring and autumn. For spring sowing, raise seedlings in late March or early April in small arched sheds or sunny sheds. Mix biological potassium and micro-fertilizers into the seedbed soil. After emergence, pay attention to ventilation and spray "Baofeng Weishite" once. In the 20 days before planting, focus on control to make the seedlings strong. For autumn seedling raising, except that no shed is covered, other practices are the same as for spring seedling raising.
2. Timely transplanting. Seedlings raised in autumn of the previous year are transplanted in late May, and seedlings raised in spring of the current year are transplanted in mid-June. Choose fresh crop land with good irrigation and drainage conditions, and apply 5000-7000 kg of high-quality farmyard manure and 5 kg of biological potassium per mu. Row spacing and plant spacing 80 cm x 5-8 cm, furrow depth 30 cm. Plant the scallions upright, and do not bury the heart leaves. After planting, scatter-apply "Funan Zhou", and during the seedling recovery period, it is better to be dry than waterlogged.
3. Field management. After seedling recovery, strengthen water and fertilizer management. Water less in July. In August, scallions grow vigorously, so water frequently, topdress frequently and hill up soil frequently. From the time leaves begin to grow, spray "Baofeng Weishite" 4-5 times. This can promote growth and increase yield by 30%-50%. In August-September, keep the soil moist but not dry, but do not flood irrigate. Every watering should be accompanied by topdressing, and the fertilizer should be more than 20 cm away from the seedlings. Harvest in mid-October.
4. Disease and pest control. Use "Huimeichu" and "Fenxiubike" to control gray mold and rust; use "Congbingke" to control purple blotch; use "Dibainchong" as a root drench to control onion maggots; use "Caiyingsha" or "Haoanwei" to control leafminers and onion thrips.
