1. Yield: In 2002, this combination was entered in the Zhejiang Province "8812" joint variety trial, with an average yield of 481.49 kg per mu, comparable to the control Shanyou 63; in the 2002 single-season rice large-plot variety comparison at this institute, the yield was 643.5 kg per mu, an increase of 6.90% over the control Shanyou 63, reaching a significant level. In 2003, it was simultaneously entered in the regional trials of Zhejiang Province and Jiangxi Province.

2. Grain quality: According to analysis by the Rice and Rice Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture: length/width 3.42, chalkiness degree 1.3%, chalky grain rate 14%, milled rice rate 58.7%, alkali spreading value 5.0, gel consistency 40 mm, amylose content 23.8%, protein content 10.7%; the main grain quality traits reached the second-grade or above standard for high-quality rice.

3. Resistance: According to resistance identification by the Zhejiang Province "8812" collaborative group, the resistance to rice blast was grade 3, and the resistance to bacterial blight was grade 3, showing resistance to rice blast and bacterial blight.

4. Growth period: When grown as a single-season rice (in Hangzhou), the whole growth period is about 132 days, about 4 days later than Shanyou 63.

5. Plant type characteristics: Plant height 119.8 cm, ideal plant type, thick and sturdy stems, relatively short penultimate internode, and strong lodging resistance.

6. Panicle and grain structure: Effective panicles per plant 10.87, average total grains per panicle 209.08, 1000-grain weight 22.42, seed-setting rate 81.9%.

Cultivation key points: (1) Sow thinly at the right time and cultivate strong seedlings: when grown as single-season rice, the sowing period is from late May to early June, with a seeding rate of 7.5-10.0 kg. (2) Reasonable sparse planting: the transplanting density is 20(20 cm or 25(16.7 cm, with about 12,000-15,000 hills per mu, and 1-2 seedlings per hill. (3) Fertilizer and water management: for fields with medium fertility, apply 11.0-13.0 kg N, 4.0-4.5 kg P2O5, and 7.5-10.0 kg K2O per mu. Among these, the ratio of N basal fertilizer : tillering fertilizer : stem-strengthening fertilizer (including panicle fertilizer) is 5:3:2, all phosphorus is used as basal fertilizer, and potassium is divided equally at 50% for tillering fertilizer and 50% for stem-strengthening fertilizer. Water management adopts aerobic irrigation, and water is cut off about 7 days before harvest.
