Variety Introduction of the New Japonica Hybrid Rice Combination Huayou No. 5

The new japonica hybrid rice combination Huayou No. 5 is a high-quality, high-yield, multi-resistant, early-maturing new combination developed by the Institute of Crop Cultivation of the Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Yield comparison trials were completed from 1997 to 1998, and it entered the Liaoning Province hybrid rice regional trial in 1999. In the two-year yield comparison trials from 1997 to 1998, the yield per mu was 574.8-698.1 kg, an increase of 11.1-27.4% over the control Liaojing 454-17.

1. Growth characteristics

The growth period of this combination is 155 days, plant height 105CM, effective panicle number per mu 198,000 panicles, tillers 10.8, panicle length 24.4CM, filled grains per panicle 112.4 grains, seed setting rate 78.5%, 1000-grain weight 27 grams. It is an excellent combination with good comprehensive resistance, large panicles, high yield potential, good grain quality and strong palatability.

2. Key cultivation points

1) Sparse planting and sparse transplanting: 150 grams of dry seed per square meter in the seedling bed; the optimum planting density in the main field is (12+9) x 5 cun, ensuring 200,000 panicles per mu.

2) Fertilizer and water management: basal fertilizer 40%, applied to the full layer before transplanting; tillering fertilizer 25%, applied around June 10; supplementary fertilizer 20%, applied around June 20; panicle fertilizer 15%, applied around July 15-20. It is best to apply 1000-1500 kg of farm manure per mu. The N:P:K ratio is 1:0.5:1.

3) Soak seeds with Emiaoning and Jinzhongling.
