Introduction of Three New Hybrid Late Indica Rice Combinations Including K You 117
K You 117 K You 117 is a new hybrid late indica rice combination bred by the Southern Zhejiang Rice Breeding Center of the Wenzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In the 2000 production trial, the average yield per mu was 410.6 kg. Results of the two-year regional trial: its average whole growth period was 127.2 days, the average number of effective panicles per mu was 180,500, the seed-setting rate was 87.97%, and the 1000-grain weight was 27.6 g; resistance identification results: resistant to brown planthopper, moderately resistant to rice blast; rice quality test results: 5 indicators including brown rice rate, milled rice rate, grain length, alkali spreading value and protein content reached the first-grade standard for edible high-quality rice issued by the Ministry. This combination has a compact plant type, moderate tillering, large panicles with many grains, a relatively high seed-setting rate, good yield potential, and high seed production yield. It is suitable for planting in southern and central Zhejiang, with attention paid in the later stage to the control of bacterial leaf streak and bacterial leaf blight.
