Detailed Introduction to the Dengmai 996 Wheat Variety
Dengmai 996 was bred by Henan Xiantianxia Seed Industry Co., Ltd. from a variant line of Zhoumai 11, with approval number: Yushenmai 2007008.
Characteristics: a weak-springness, early-maturing variety with a growth period of about 204 days, the same maturity period as the control Yumai 18. Seedlings are semi-erect, with strong cold resistance, medium tillering ability, and a high spike-forming rate. Plant height is 84 cm, the stem has good elasticity, and it is relatively resistant to lodging. The plant type is compact, the flag leaves are upright, the spike layer is neat, and it yellows well at maturity. The spike is spindle-shaped, with long awns and white grains. The grains are semi-hard, relatively plump, with high test weight and a low rate of black point. The three yield components are well coordinated: 397,600 spikes per mu, 38.8 grains per spike, and a 1,000-grain weight of 39.4 grams.
Yield performance: In 2006~2007, it participated in the southern Henan Province @#@245@#@ variety production trial, with an average yield of 476.4 kg per mu, an increase of 7.5% over the control Yumai 18.
Resistance identification: moderately resistant to leaf blight, stripe rust, and leaf rust; moderately susceptible to powdery mildew and sheath blight.
Cultivation key points: suitable for planting in the rice-wheat double-cropping areas of southern our province. The suitable sowing period is from October 15 to 28. For high-fertility plots, the suitable sowing rate is 8~9 kg per mu; for medium- and low-fertility plots, the sowing rate may be appropriately increased. If sowing is delayed, it is advisable to increase the sowing rate by 0.5 kg per mu for every 3 days of delay. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, weed in a timely manner before the green-up stage, and pay attention to the prevention and control of pests and diseases. From heading to the grain-filling stage, spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution in a timely manner to promote large, plump grains.
