Identification of Honeysuckle Disease Symptoms and Control Methods
Brown spot disease A common leaf disease that causes plants to grow weakly. It mostly occurs in the middle and late growth stages, with August and September being the peak period of onset, and it is severe under rainy and humid conditions. In the early stage of onset, small brown spots form on the leaves, then expand into brown round lesions or irregular lesions. Grayish-black mold-like substances grow on the underside of the lesions. When the disease is severe, the leaves fall off, affecting plant growth and flowering. Control method: prune diseased leaves, then spray with 1:1.5:200 Bordeaux mixture, once every 7 to 10 days, for 2 to 3 consecutive times.
Powdery mildew It is severe under warm and dry or shaded conditions. In the early stage of onset, small white spots appear on the leaves, then gradually expand into white powdery patches, which continue to spread and cover the entire leaf, causing the leaves to turn yellow, shrink and deform, and finally causing flowers and leaves to fall and branches to dry up. Control method: promptly dispose of diseased and residual plants; during the onset period, spray with 50% Thiophanate-methyl 1000-times solution.
Anthracnose The leaf lesions are nearly circular. When humid, orange-red dot-like sticky substances grow on the leaves; these are large accumulations of conidia. Control methods: 1) Remove residual plants and diseased leaves and burn them in a centralized manner; 2) Before transplanting, soak the seedlings in 1:1:150-200 Bordeaux mixture for 5 to 10 minutes; 3) During the onset period, spray with 65% Zineb 500-times solution or 50% Tuzet 800 to 1000-times solution.
Rust disease After being affected, tea-brown or dark brown small spots appear on the underside of the leaves; some also show nearly circular lesions on the leaf surface, with 1 small blister in the center, which can cause the leaves to wither and die in severe cases. Control methods: 1) After collecting flowers, remove dead plants and diseased leaves and burn them in a centralized manner; 2) In the early stage of onset, spray with 50% Dinitro 200-times solution or 25% Fenruining 1000-times solution, once every 7 to 10 days, for 2 to 3 consecutive sprays.
