How is upland rice cultivated? These technical points need to be mastered
Upland rice cultivation should master the following points:
(1) Select a suitable sowing period according to variety characteristics. Generally the same as the local early and middle rice.
(2) Choose plots with deep soil plough layers and good water retention. Mountainous land with steep slopes, shallow plough layers and high coarse sand content is not suitable for planting upland rice.
(3) Deep ploughing and fine preparation, with sufficient base fertilizer. Plough layer over 15cm, bed width about 1 m. Apply base fertilizer per mu by banding or hole application: phosphate fertilizer 50 kg, potassium fertilizer 10 kg, farmyard manure 500 kg.
(4) Direct seeding or seedling raising and transplanting. Direct seeding can be drilled or hole-sown, with a sowing rate of 6-8 kg per mu. After soaking the seeds to promote germination, mix with dry-raised rice nursery agent or carbofuran, and sow immediately after mixing. Row spacing about 28cm, hole spacing 13 x 25cm. Sow about 5 grains per hole. For seedling raising and transplanting, use dry nursery and transplant with soil.
(5) Intertillage and topdressing. Replant missing seedlings within 7 days after emergence. After 7 days, apply per mu ammonium bicarbonate 25 kg and calcium superphosphate 25 kg. Within 15 days, combined with weeding and checking the seedlings, apply about 5 kg urea as tillering fertilizer.
(6) Spray 300mg/L paclobutrazol once at the jointing stage.
(7) Timely control of diseases, insects and rodents. At the emergence stage, pay attention to preventing rats and mole crickets. At the tillering stage, pay attention to preventing leaf blast and stem borers. If continuous rain occurs at the booting stage, pay attention to controlling sheath blight. At the heading and grain-filling stages, pay attention to preventing rats, bird damage and animal damage.
(8) In drought-prone mountainous areas, pay attention to preventing extreme drought during the booting, heading and grain-filling stages.
