Detailed introduction to the new conventional rice variety Aixianzhan
Aixianzhan, a new conventional rice variety bred by crossing Yueyezhan 21/Yuanxianzhan, is a high-quality, high-yield conventional rice variety suitable for both early and late seasons. It was identified as Grade 1 high-quality rice under the national standard through physical and chemical analysis by the Food Quality Supervision and Inspection Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture (Wuhan), breaking the zero record for new rice varieties of Grade 1 high-quality under the national standard in our province.
It is reported that this variety is a temperature-sensitive indica rice with medium maturity in the early season and early maturity in the late season. In the 2002 late season, it participated in the provincial regional trial, with an average yield of 383.29 kg per mu, an increase of 3.54% over the control Jingxian 89 at 370.17 kg per mu, an increase of 13.12 kg per mu and a value increase of 15.74 yuan (calculated at the same price). In terms of rice quality, through physical and chemical analysis and identification by the Food Quality Supervision and Inspection Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture (Wuhan), the main physical and chemical indicators are: head rice rate 59.5%, chalky grain rate 4%, chalkiness degree 0.4%, amylose content 17.32%, gel consistency 79 mm, physical and chemical score 70 points. Grain length 6.5 mm, length-to-width ratio 3.3, transparency grade 2, good crystalline appearance, good cooking quality, good eating taste. It is Grade 1 high-quality rice under the national standard, and is the only new variety among the provincial regional trial varieties in recent years that has been identified as reaching Grade 1 high-quality under the national standard. The Guangdong Province Grain and Oil Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Station identified its appearance quality as Grade 1 high-quality rice.
In terms of resistance, through inoculation identification, the resistance frequencies to rice blast races Zhong B, Zhong C and total were 74.3%, 59.1% and 69.1% respectively; bacterial blight was grade 3, moderately resistant; identification in the rice blast nursery showed leaf blast and panicle blast were both grade 5, moderately susceptible; no infection with rice blast has been found in experimental demonstration and field production, and sheath blight in the field was light. It shows strong cold tolerance, resistance to lodging and tolerance to fertilizer, high seed-setting rate, and good ripening color in the later stage.
According to the Improved Variety Propagation Section of the Provincial Seed Station, in accordance with the relevant provisions on crop variety approval, Aixianzhan will continue to participate in this year's late-season provincial variety regional trial. If its performance in all aspects meets the standards, it is expected to pass approval as early as next year.
