A new dual-purpose (dry and fresh) hot pepper variety -- Zhongdu Xiangla Wang
Zhongdu Xiangla Wang is a new dual-purpose (dry and fresh) hot pepper variety bred by Sichuan Zhongdu Seed Industry Co., Ltd., suitable for protected and open-field cultivation in spring and autumn. This variety is an early-to-mid-maturing slender goat-horn pepper, with a plant height of 55-60 cm and a spread of 45-50 cm; the fruit shape is uniform on both the upper and lower parts of the plant, the fruit surface is smooth, the peppers are straight, and green and glossy; the fruit is 23-28 cm long, 1.5 cm thick, with 0.25 cm thick flesh and a strong pungency; it is tolerant to storage and transport, tolerant to high temperature and high humidity, highly resistant to viral disease and anthracnose, and tolerant to phytophthora blight, bacterial wilt, etc.
1. Raising strong seedlings. Choose a garden plot with relatively high terrain, good ventilation and light, where solanaceous vegetables have not been grown for 3 years, to build the seedbed, preferably sandy loam soil. Disinfect the seedbed soil by spraying with 200 mL of formalin mixed with 25 kg of water, then seal it with plastic film for 2-3 days. Soak the seeds in clean water for 4-6 hours, then soak them in 300-fold formalin solution for 15 minutes, wash them clean with water, drain them, and then sow. Sow at the appropriate time according to local planting practices. For early spring cultivation in the Yangtze River Basin, the sowing period is generally October-November, and for autumn cultivation, sowing is in June-July, with a seeding rate of 50-70 g per mu of field. Sow the seeds in 2-3 batches, generally sowing about 10 g per square meter of seedbed, and after sowing cover with 1 cm of medicated soil. After the seedlings emerge completely, pay attention to lowering the temperature, and cover with a shade net for 2-3 hours at noon on sunny days. There are many pests and diseases when raising seedlings in summer, so focus on controlling aphids, underground pests, and diseases such as viral disease and phytophthora blight.
2. Timely transplanting. Apply 3000-5000 kg of decomposed farmyard manure, 30 kg of compound fertilizer, and 50 kg of superphosphate per mu as a base fertilizer, then after deep plowing, harrow and turn twice, and make beds 1.2-1.4 m wide. Transplant when the seedlings are 40-50 days old, with a row spacing and plant spacing of 50 cm, planting about 2600 plants per mu.
3. Field management. After transplanting, water to settle the roots, and after they survive, cultivate and weed in time to control vigorous growth. In the early stage of plant growth, follow the irrigation principle of alternating dry and wet, watering frequently with a small amount of water, and drain promptly after rain during the fruiting stage. After the first fruit sets firmly, apply 10-15 kg of compound fertilizer per mu; in the early fruiting stage, apply 15-20 kg of compound fertilizer per mu; in the full fruiting stage, apply 20-30 kg of compound fertilizer per mu. For common diseases, spray with 500-fold 70% chlorothalonil solution, or 500-fold 50% thiophanate-methyl solution, or 500-fold 50% thiram solution for control, spraying once every 5-7 days. For pest control, insecticides such as cyhalothrin, pirimicarb, and abamectin can be used for spray control.
4. Timely harvesting. Harvest the young fruits promptly when they reach commercial maturity; when the price of green peppers is low, they can be left to be sold as red peppers.
