Liaoqie No. 3 is a new high-yield, high-quality, disease-resistant purple long eggplant variety developed by the Horticulture Research Institute of the Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences through sexual hybridization using H12 and Liuye as parents.

Characteristics and traits: plant height 84.5 cm, spread 52.5 cm, upright type. Leaf veins, corolla and fruit skin are all purple. The fruit is oval, with a longitudinal diameter of 18 cm and a transverse diameter of 9.5 cm, glossy, and a single fruit weight of 250 g. Sugar content is 4.9%, 0.9% higher than the control variety. Each 100 g fresh weight contains vitamin C 6.8 mg, 0.7 mg higher than the control variety. Excellent quality and good marketability. According to field surveys of natural disease incidence, the incidence rates of Verticillium wilt, brown spot disease and Phytophthora blight are all lower than those of the control variety, indicating relatively strong disease resistance. From sowing to the beginning of harvest of marketable fruit takes about 112 d.

Yield performance: According to many years of multi-item and multi-site trials, the average early yield per mu is 2385.9 kg and the total yield is 3699.9 kg, respectively 30.9% and 33.0% higher than the control variety. Both early yield and total yield are relatively high, and yield stability is also relatively good.

Regions and techniques: Choose flat, fertile loam or sandy loam plots with convenient irrigation and good drainage for planting, and by no means practice continuous cropping or alternating cropping with solanaceous vegetables. A plant population of about 3000 plants per mu is appropriate. Apply 5000 kg of high-quality farmyard manure per mu as base fertilizer, and increase the application of phosphate fertilizer and potassium fertilizer. During the growth period, timely topdressing, irrigation, spraying and weeding should be carried out, and in the rainy season attention should be paid to drainage and waterlogging prevention.

Suitability: Liaoqie No. 3 has broad adaptability and can be used for open-field cultivation or protected cultivation in most areas of China, and its prospects for development and application are promising.
