Introduction to the Anshu 56 Variety and Key Cultivation Techniques
The new potato variety "Anshu 56" was bred by the Ankang Prefecture Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Shaanxi Province and was approved and named by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee. This variety has a semi-erect plant type, with a plant height of 42-65 cm, 2-4 main stems, and relatively few branches. The corolla is purplish red, and the plant is sturdy and does not lodge. The leaves are dark green, and the compound leaves are relatively large. The corolla is purplish red. The tubers are flat-round in shape, with yellow skin and white flesh. Tuber set is concentrated, the tubers are large and uniform, and the marketable tuber rate is high. The tuber dormancy period is short (about 80 days), the eyes are shallow, and it stores well. Eating quality is good; when steamed it is dry and mealy, with a good mouthfeel. Starch content is 17.66%, and crude protein content is 2.54%, making it a high-protein variety. This variety is resistant to late blight, slightly susceptible to blackleg&127; disease, resistant to mosaic virus disease, and slightly susceptible to bunchy top-type virus disease. The planting density is 3500-4000 plants/mu, &127; with an average yield of about 1500 kg per mu. In the 1998 variety trial in Wulong, the yield per mu was 1530 kg, and in demonstration plantings in that county, the highest yield per mu could reach 2950 kg. In production, it shows intolerance to waterlogging, &127; strong resistance, wide adaptability, and great yield-increasing potential.
