Jimai 19 (formerly coded 935031) is a new high-yield, high-quality noodle @#@245@#@ variety bred by the Crop Research Institute of the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In April 2001, it passed the review and was named by the Shandong Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee.
Characteristics and traits: winter type, seedlings semi-prostrate, good winter hardiness, plant height 80 cm, spike spindle-shaped, compact plant type, strong tillering ability, high spike-setting rate, relatively resistant to lodging, moderately resistant to stripe rust and leaf rust, highly resistant to powdery mildew. Quality testing reached the standard for medium-gluten varieties. Spike number per mu 350,000--400,000, grains per spike 35--40, 1000-grain weight 40 g--45 g.
Yield performance: from 1999 to 2000, in the high-fertility wheat production trial in Shandong Province, the yield per mu was 508.6 kg, an increase of 7.5% over the control, ranking 1st. It is suitable for promotion and use under conditions of 400 kg--500 kg yield per mu.
Cultivation points: fertile soil and good irrigation conditions are required; sow at the right time and in the right amount, with a sowing rate of 5 kg--7.5 kg per mu, and improve land preparation and sowing quality. Strengthen pre-winter management; during the jointing and stem-elongation stage, pay attention to controlling fertilizer and water to enhance lodging resistance. In the later stage, promptly control pests and diseases.
