How to scientifically manage film-mulched garlic after it turns green
The weather is gradually warming up, and film-mulched garlic has now begun to turn green. After the seedlings turn green, adventitious roots begin to grow at the lower part, accumulating nutrients for the differentiation of garlic scapes and bulbs, which is the key period for achieving high quality and high yield of garlic. The management measures for this period are:
Clean the dust off the plastic film. Due to irrigation before winter, dust or silt will accumulate on the garlic film, affecting its light transmission, so it should be removed as early as possible to enhance light and raise soil temperature.
Repair damaged plastic film in time. Film that has been torn, scratched, or lifted by the wind should be repaired at any time, and garlic sprouts curled under the film should be hooked out as soon as possible, so that the garlic seedlings grow neatly and uniformly.
Supplemental spraying of micro-fertilizers. Continuous successive cropping of garlic will cause a relative deficiency of trace elements in the soil, and a deficiency of trace elements will directly lead to weak garlic plants and poor development. Therefore, after the plants turn green, spray the "Yaodele" brand "Magnesium-Boron-Zinc-Iron Fertilizer" foliar fertilizer 2 to 3 times.
Fertilizer and water management. When the daily average temperature stabilizes at 10°C to 15°C, water to strengthen the seedlings, and apply with the water 8 to 10 kg of pure nitrogen and 2 kg of potassium dihydrogen phosphate, or apply 30 kg of high-nitrogen compound fertilizer with the water.
Pest and disease control. The main garlic diseases are soft rot, leaf blight, and rust. Take measures to control them early at the initial stage of onset. For soft rot, spray 72% agricultural streptomycin wettable powder at 4000 times dilution or 77% Kocide wettable powder at 600 times dilution; for leaf blight, spray 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder at 800 times dilution or 64% Sandofan wettable powder at 500 times dilution; for rust, spray 15% triadimefon wettable powder at 1000 times dilution, generally 2 to 3 applications. For garlic maggots, when watering the second time, use 48% Lorsban 500 g per mu or BT emulsion 2 to 3 kg per mu, applied with the water for control.
