The author recently learned from the Bokun Agricultural Research Institute in Yixing City, Jiangsu Province: the institute, in cooperation with the National Rice Improvement Center of the China National Rice Research Institute and other units, has achieved a breakthrough in the work of "breeding new multi-resistant, high-yield, high-quality japonica rice varieties," successfully breeding a batch of new high-yield, high-quality japonica rice lines such as 4701 and 4714 that are resistant to pests and diseases including brown planthopper and rice blast.
It is reported that the bred new high-yield, high-quality japonica rice lines combine genes for resistance to brown planthopper, white-backed planthopper, rice blast, and stripe leaf blight, as well as specific genes for high yield and high quality. Tests conducted by the National Rice Improvement Center of the China National Rice Research Institute and the Department of Plant Protection of the College of Agriculture at Yangzhou University show that these new high-quality japonica rice lines have a clear effect in resisting pests and diseases such as brown planthopper and rice blast.

It is currently planted in Northeast China and the Yellow River basin, and also in the south, but due to temperature limitations, it rarely survives.
