Characteristics: Spring wheat type; maturity is 2 days earlier than the control Yumai 18. Seedlings are erect, tillering ability is moderate, leaves are yellow-green and held upright. Plant height is 80 cm, plant type is relatively compact, and lodging resistance is moderate. The spike layer is neat, the spike is spindle-shaped, with long awns, white glumes, white kernels, and vitreous grain. The spike-forming rate is relatively high, with an average of 390,000 spikes per mu, 27 grains per spike, and a 1000-grain weight of 43 g; in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River regional trial, the average number of spikes per mu was 300,000, grains per spike 30, and 1000-grain weight 43 g. Growth vigor is strong in winter and spring, and cold resistance is weak. It tolerates late-season high temperatures, fills quickly, and has a good ripening appearance. It is moderately resistant to stripe rust, moderately susceptible to leaf rust and stem rust, and highly susceptible to fusarium head blight, powdery mildew, and sharp eyespot. In the southern Huang-Huai trial, test weight was 800 g/L, crude protein content 14.5%, wet gluten content 33%, sedimentation value 44.4 mL, water absorption 64.2%, dough stability time 7.6 minutes, maximum resistance to extension 364.8 E.U, and extensograph area 58.7 sq cm. In the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River wheat region trial, test weight was 777 g/L, crude protein content 14.0%, wet gluten content 29.8%, sedimentation value 45.3 mL, water absorption 59.9%, stability time 7.1 minutes, maximum resistance to extension 445 E.U, extensibility 17.7 cm, and extensograph area 103.9 sq cm.

Yield Performance: In 2002, it participated in the late-sowing irrigated regional trial of the southern Huang-Huai winter wheat region, with an average yield of 458.2 kg per mu, an increase of 4.7% over the control Yumai 18 (significant); in the 2003 continued trial, the average yield was 448.5 kg per mu, an increase of 2.7% over the control Yumai 18 (not significant); in the 2003 production trial, the average yield was 416 kg per mu, an increase of 2.1% over the control Yumai 18.

In 2002, it participated in the middle and lower reaches group regional trial of the Yangtze River winter wheat region, with an average yield of 337.1 kg per mu, an increase of 5.9% over the control Yangmai 158 (highly significant); in the 2003 continued trial, the average yield was 309.2 kg per mu, an increase of 3% over the control Yangmai 158 (highly significant). In the 2003 production trial, the average yield was 287.9 kg per mu, a decrease of 2.1% compared with the local control.

Key Cultivation Techniques: Pay attention to timely late sowing to prevent cold damage. In the southern Huang-Huai winter wheat region, the suitable sowing period is October 15-25, with 150,000-200,000 basic seedlings per mu; in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River wheat region, the suitable sowing period is October 25-November 5, with 200,000-250,000 basic seedlings per mu; pay attention to the control of powdery mildew, sharp eyespot, and fusarium head blight; harvest promptly in the later stage to prevent sprouting of the spikes. When planted in the southern Huang-Huai winter wheat region, pay attention to delaying nitrogen fertilizer application to ensure nitrogen supply in the middle and late stages and ensure strong-gluten quality.

National Variety Approval Committee Approval Opinion: Upon review, this variety meets the national wheat variety approval standards and has passed approval. It is suitable for late-crop planting in Henan Province, northern Anhui, northern Jiangsu, and the Guanzhong area of Shaanxi in the southern Huang-Huai winter wheat region. It is suitable for planting in the Anhui and Jiangsu areas along the Huai River, southern Henan, and northern Hubei in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River wheat region.
