Detailed Introduction to the Jiudao 47 Rice Variety
I. Breeding Institution: Jilin City Academy of Agricultural Sciences
II. Variety Origin: In 1991, bred by crossing Jiyin 8611 as the female parent with Jiu 88-2 as the male parent, using the pedigree method. Original code name Jiudao 302.
III. Characteristics:
1. Plant traits: plant height 103 cm, compact plant type, erect leaves, strong tillering ability, about 24 effective panicles per hill;
2. Panicle traits: panicle length 19.8 cm, loose panicle shape, 180 grains on the main panicle, average 115 grains per panicle, medium grain density, seed-setting rate above 90%;
3. Grain traits: grain oval-shaped, yellow, awned, 1000-grain weight 25.0 g;
4. Quality analysis: According to the Ministry of Agriculture standard NY122-86 "High-Quality Edible Rice", brown rice rate, milled rice rate,
head rice rate, grain length, length-to-width ratio, chalkiness rate, chalkiness degree, alkali spreading value, gel consistency, amylose content, and protein content, 11 indicators, reached the Ministry's first-grade high-quality rice standard;
5. Stress resistance: artificial inoculation identification, moderately susceptible to seedling blast; off-site field natural induction identification, moderately resistant to leaf blast, susceptible to neck blast;
6. Growth duration: medium-late maturing variety. Growth period 139 days, requires ≥10°C accumulated temperature of 2800°C.
IV. Yield Results:
In 2001, the average yield in the preliminary test was 8400.0 kg per hectare, a 2.2% increase over the control Tong 35; in 2002-2003, the average yield in the regional test was 8405.2 kg per hectare, a 4.2% increase over the control Tong 35; in 2003, the average yield in the production test was 7819.5 kg per hectare, a 3.6% increase over the control Tong 35.
V. Cultivation Points:
1. Sowing and transplanting: sow sparsely to grow strong seedlings, sow in early to mid-April, transplant in mid to late May;
2. Cultivation density: 30×20 cm, 3-5 seedlings per hill;
3. Fertilization: formula fertilization with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, apply 140 kg of pure nitrogen per hectare, applied as 40% basal fertilizer, 30% tillering fertilizer, 20% supplementary fertilizer, and 10% panicle fertilizer; 75 kg of phosphate fertilizer and 75 kg of potassium fertilizer, applied in two applications, 50% as basal fertilizer and 50% as panicle fertilizer;
4. Field management: water management should be mainly shallow, with intermittent irrigation after heading. In early to mid-July, pay attention to controlling the Asiatic rice borer, and promptly control rice blast.
VI. Adapted Region: Medium-late maturing area of Jilin Province.
