Hua'er wheat is an achievement of the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" National Key Science and Technology Research Program. It was developed through cell engineering technology by the Biotechnology Research Institute of the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences in cooperation with the High Resistance Breeding Laboratory of the Wheat Center. It has passed approval in Henan Province and is currently promoted and operated exclusively by Henan Yalong Qiuke Seed Industry Co., Ltd.

Characteristics: a mid-early maturing variety with semi-upright seedlings, strong tillering ability, a high spike-forming rate, and vigorous growth. Plant height is about 75 cm, leaves are slender and slightly drooping, spikes are large and uniform, with many florets and many grains, and good seed set. Grains are white, long oval-shaped; early maturing, with good late-stage yellowing, cold tolerant, drought tolerant, and disease resistant. The three yield components are well coordinated, with an average of about 400,000 spikes per mu, about 40 grains per spike, and a 1000-grain weight of about 40 g. Quality analysis results from the Quality Testing Center of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences: Hua'er wheat is a weak-gluten wheat, suitable for processing biscuits and cakes.

Yield performance: in normal years, the general yield per mu is 600-650 kg, and in high water and fertilizer plots, the yield per mu can exceed 750 kg.

Cultivation points: suitable for planting in the central and southern parts of our province and the middle and high-yield areas of the Huang-Huai region on mid-to-late stubble. The sowing period is from October 5 to 30, with a sowing rate of 8-9 kg per mu; for late sowing or plots with relatively low fertility, the sowing rate can be appropriately increased. Using a liquid biological bacterial seed dressing agent for seed treatment gives better results. Fertilization should be reasonable, and the ratio of the three elements nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in the fertilizer should be coordinated, while strengthening the supplementation of trace elements and the additional application of organic fertilizer. At the greening stage, apply 15-20 kg of urea per mu and irrigate at the appropriate time.
