How is the Zhengmai 004 wheat variety

Variety origin

(national approval) Zhengmai 004 is a new @#@245@#@ variety with high yield, stable yield, cold tolerance, and strong disease resistance, bred by the Wheat Research Institute of the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and this variety has passed national plant variety protection.

Characteristics

(national approval) Zhengmai 004 is a semi-winter, multi-spike, medium-early maturing variety, with semi-prostrate seedlings, strong tillering ability, compact plant type, good stem elasticity, and resistance to lodging, cold, dry hot wind, and disease. The flag leaf is upright, plant height is about 75 cm, the three yield components are well coordinated, the number of spikes per mu is about 400,000, the number of grains per spike is about 37, and the 1000-grain weight is 40 g. The grain is semi-angular and somewhat starchy, and it is the only weak-gluten variety recommended in the regional trial of the southern Huang-Huai-Hai area.

Yield performance

In 2003, the average yield per mu was 547 kg, an increase of 9.5% over Yumai 49. In 2005, under low-temperature weather conditions rarely seen in decades, this variety showed extremely strong cold tolerance. In Yanglei Township, Wen County, Henan, with contiguous planting of one hundred mu, the yield reached 603 kg.

Cultivation points

Suitable for early sowing, tolerant of late sowing, with wide sowing-date flexibility; the optimal sowing period is early to mid-October, the sowing rate is about 7.5 kg per mu, apply sufficient base fertilizer, 20 kg urea, 50 kg superphosphate, and 10 kg potassium fertilizer. Suitable for planting in high- and medium-fertility land across the vast Huang-Huai wheat region.
